An mother-daughter collaboration by Sarah and Nell Lang. Through performance, original music, painting, ceramics, and installation, audiences are invited to experience Joan’s life, stories, humour, rituals, friendships, and journeys.
Rooted in family memory, diary entries, and everyday objects, the work reflects on the quiet extraordinariness of ordinary lives and the women whose presence continues to shape generations long after they are gone. While deeply personal, Joanresonates beyond one family story — reflecting the grandparents, mothers, neighbours, and friends whose lives quietly shaped our own.
As part of the exhibition, visitors will be invited to share memories and reflections about their own “Joan”, creating a growing archive of lives remembered through story, humour, ritual, and love.
